Lightning Leading

The Lightning are leading in the poles for the most underated team. Can they live up to the hype by getting another win against the Nebulas? The Lightning defeated the Nebulas last year in the Universe Series to become the second team crowned as UBL Champions. An interview with Nebula Star, Barnes, reveals the bitter dissappointment still felt by their team. "I think this bitter season will get a little sweeter if we can pull out a win against the Lightning," Barnes says. The Nebulas are 2-5 this season coming off a one run loss against the Stars. Domingo, member of Lightnings last years championship team, said, "We prepare for each game the same regardless of who we play...We just want to win." Can the Lightning keep climbing the standings? Only time will tell. But I wouldn't count them out. Lightning can strike anywhere.

I think the Volcanos are due for a loss. Their record does not reflect the talent on their roster. Don't get me wrong. I think they are a good team. I just think they have been fortunate thus far.
Now the most underated team in my opinion is the Lightning. I'm predicting them to be in the top 6 at the end of the season.
Well, this is my insight for the day. GO STARS!!!

Colby, the site is looking good. I will have to do my research before I pick on the poll question. The Stars are looking like one of the best teams in baseball! I am also wondering when the Volcanoes are going to lose their first game. It is long overdue.

Last night the Planets edged out the Tornados in a late inning thriller. The Planets found themselves down 3 to 2 heading into the 8th inning. Denton hit a triple and then a sacrificed hit brought him home for the tieing run. Tolidee, the Tornados pitcher, walked Zimmerman, the Planets pitcher, with bases loaded in the 9th to allow the go ahead run. Tolidee was 3 of 4 batting and had 11 strikeouts but succumbed to the pressure late in the game. The Planets ended up pulling it out 5 to 3. The Planets player of the game was Denton who batted 4 of 5 with 3 singles and a triple. He also scored 2 runs and caught several balls in center field. The Tornados player of the game was Henderson who had a homerun and an RBI. The Planets move up to 6-2 and the Tornados drop to 3-5.

Game 65
004 062 020 14 Suns
040 010 050 10 Earthquakes

Suns defeat the Earthquakes 14 to 10 which propels Suns up the standings again. Suns had 16 singles and a triple. Earthquakes had 13 singles, 2 doubles, and 3 triples. Dean, Suns pitcher, had 10 strikeouts and 1 walk. Sorda, Earthquakes pitcher, had 2 strikeouts and 11 walks. If you took away all runs from both teams where the player innitially walked, the Earthquakes would have won 9 to 8. Pitching ended up being the deciding factor in this one.

Suns Player of the Game
Dean batted 3 of 6 (3 singles), scored 3 runs, got 1 RBI, had 10 strikeouts, and 1 walk.

Earthquakes Player of the Game
Johnson batted 3 of 5 (single, double, and triple) and scored 3 runs.

For me, it was a toss up between the Meteors and Asteroids. The Asteroids lead those four teams in run differential up until to the sixth game, but I don't think that they have played as hard of a schedule. The Meteors beat both of the teams going head to head, so I picked them. The Suns have played one of the toughest schedules in the universe, but the loss to the Nebulas was uncalled for.

I was looking at our team record. We have got a great shot to take the league this year. We have beaten 2 teams in the top 5, and just barely lost to the Planets. If we can hold on until the Volcanoes lose, we could get a #1 ranking. What do you think?

The Avalanche crush the Hurrcanes 9-1. The Avalanche picked up their first win of the season, and were carried by Alberts 2 runs, and 3 RBI's. He hit a two run first inning homerun, and the team never looked back.

The Hurricanes coach was frustrated by the loss, but complimented the Avalanche, "If you focus on records in this league, you are probably going to lose. This team has played solid against just about everbody they have played so far, and they showed their potential tonight against us."

The Avalanche coach also had some fine things to say about his teams win. "You have got to give credit to these ball players. They have battled in every game but one. They were down but kept playing hard. I am happy for them, and excited that we picked up our first win."

The Avalance will now face a tougher test against the Stars in their next game.
